Silhouette Fun Treat Boxes

I just love my Silhouette cutter for so many reasons.  Being a Mac user, I really appreciate how the Studio Design Software is native to the Mac.  Plus, its free!!  You will see many projects here on my blog where I design sentiment cut-out's with Mac Fonts.  You can trace your own designs in the software and then cut them out.  You can even print out an image and have it cut around it.  This comes in really handy for reducing the need to perform "fussy cutting" around stamped images.  With my Christmas card from 2014, you will see how I used this technique when I finally get around to post it.  I do want to say that I'm also a huge fan of the Cricut as well.  My Silhouette cuts 8 1/2 x 11" and my Cricut Expresson 2 cuts 12 x 12".  I started with Cricut, cause I fell in love with their designs.  But I bought the Silhouette SD (same as the Portrait), due to the nature of being able to trace, weld fonts with out having to buy a cartridge.

Here is a simple project that was created using the Silhouette and their design library.  Each design only costs .99 cents and you own them for life.  Several times a year, you can get 25-50% off designs from their extensive library.  I do design most of my own content with the Silhouette, cause it's so easy, but they do have a nice library of designs.  I can't take credit for this particular design, but I did re-size it to make different kind of pillow boxes.  Also added some faux diamonds and nickel plated buttons from Stampin 'Up to decorate them.  The best paper to cut on this particular machine is 65# card stock.  Recollections from Michaels works best.  This particular paper set I used is textured and perfect for Spring.

Super Sticky strip (gel tape) is used to keep this box closed on 3 sides.  Keep one side available to open without adhesive.  Fruit snack packetts are the perfect fill for this 3D box favor.  Turned out super cute with the pop up flower design.  If you have a Silhouette, check out the design store for this really awesome box.

Thanks for visiting my blog….Happy paper crafting!!
